In 2001, Main Line Health's Great Valley Ambulance announced that it would no longer provide Paramedic services to area communities. Several companies were evaluated to provide this service and Narberth Ambulance was selected to begin operations effective June 1st. "Medic 109" based at Bryn Mawr Hospital, services Radnor Township and areas of the Tredyffrin pan handle covered by Radnor Ambulance. Medic 109 is dispatched to calls that require advanced life support as dictated by regional medical & dispatch protocols. Radnor Ambulance crews can also summon Medic 109 if they determine ALS is warrented. Medic 109 operates a 2008 Ford Expedition that carries a full compliment of ALS gear including cardiac and respiratory medications, CPAP and a LifePakĘ 12 Defibrillator/Monitor with 12-lead ECG. Paramedics assigned to Medic 109 average 10 years of paramedic experience and are under the direction of Radnor & Narberth Ambulance Medical Director, Ben Usatch, MD. |
